International award
winning photographer, Norman Seeff provides dynamic
images of renowned yogis and media celebrities in dramatic
and provocative Contact Yoga poses. The remarkable nature
and power of these images goes far beyond traditional
practitioners of yoga. They are in themselves powerful
and intimate symbols of relationship and union, mandalas
of the coming together of two people in a celebration
of movement and balance. These images exhibit all of
the beauty and sensuality of the poses, while expressing
the intense physical, emotional and spiritual relationship
and connection between the practitioners.
The international popularity of yoga both as a fitness
and spiritual discipline continues to explode across
all ages and genders as a remedy for the stress, tension
and the physical and spiritual demands of modern life.
Contact Yoga, a revolutionary form of partner yoga,
is emerging as the physical embodiment, the living metaphor,
of the dynamics of human relationships.
Contact Yoga holds that yoga is experiencing a natural
evolution beyond individual practice; it is through
intimate relationship and communication with each other
that we can realize our true self and our greatest potential.
Contact goes beyond partner yoga to express and embody
the deeper and more transcendent aspects of relationship.
In Contact, the energy of two people moves into postures
to connect with and serve their desire for a deeper
awareness of self and experience of spiritual union
with another.
Unlike the numerous instructional books that deal specifically
with the philosophy or regimen of yoga practice, CONTACT
uses the sensual and dramatic poses of Contact and the
Seven Points of Contact: Trust, Passion, Commitment,
Love, Communication, Vision and Union to define and
express the fundamental components of all fulfilling
relationships, offering insight and wisdom for our daily
lives. CONTACT is a book to be savored: it will appeal
to all who seek depth and fulfillment in their relationships,
whether or not you practice yoga.
